Then what about something that’s even more basic and transversal to both? Replaying the same content again and again is the way to have fun at Diablo, and Seasons are built over that concept. Even despite PvP scenery moving to other games like LoL and so on. WoW’s PvP? Can enjoy BGs a little bit (not a lot), also a bit TBC HF Peninsula fortifications, enjoyed a lot the “For the Alliance/For the Horde” achievements, and hated all the others (world PvP and arenas) with all my soul, but would never ask for their removal. PvP? Same story, never played nor interested, but a hypothetical Diablo5 should never be released without it. HC? I’ve never played HC in more than 20 years of Diablo, nor I’m not remotely interested, however I’d never ask for its removal, it’s part of the DNA of the series. And that’s even way beyond that: it’s not just about how long have they been there, but about what they mean to those games, and they’re part of its DNA. I’m also a MMO (WoW) lover, and both Diablo and WoW have things I don’t like but they were there way before me and there’s no way the idea of asking them to be removed would cross my mind. Watched your video… And exactly, on spot. Everything would basically become “thrown away.” This notion of Eternal characters having any identity is thrown out the window, thus potential store purchases, because there is no longevity. People love their characters, and their cosmetics, but it is lost with current iteration of Seasons tying Ladders together. This is why games like Destiny 2 has survived and actually grown in the long term. This will truly separate D4 from other games, and put it within its own genre defining category. Then flush out the world to give more content and end game. You have a chance to capture a wider audience (think more possible chances for store purchases), if you can keep a larger player base by separating Ladder and Seasonal content.

If I got bored with doing another season, I’d just stop playing the game, since it became too repetitive. I’ve played D2 and D3, and once ladders are over, I never once returned to the non-seasonal character. Otherwise, you are going to lose a majority of players that are casual (what is that, 90+% of the player base?), while this is still satisfying hardcore players that want more of a challenge. Just separate the Ladder as its own reoccurring “tournament” within the three month period with some type of reward from doing that.
